Consultation Paper 1
This paper is published by the Commission on Local Government and
the Scottish Parliament. The Commission has been appointed by the Secretary of State for
Scotland with the remit- The Commission is to present its final report to the First Minister of the Scottish
Parliament, when that person takes office. The members of the Commission are- Neil McIntosh CBE (Chairman) Comments on any of the questions raised in this paper are invited from any interested
bodies or members of the public. They should be sent, please, by 30 June 1998, to- Steven Kerr or by e-mail from www.lg-scot-commission.gov.uk
(available 17 April) Further copies of this paper may be obtained from Mr Kerr. The Commission will assume that responses to this paper may be made publicly available,
either on an open file, or on the Commission's own website; but if for any reason
respondents wish their comments to be held in confidence, the Commission will respect
