Percentage of schools registered for the Eco Schools programme and with Green Flag status
The percentage of schools registered with Eco Schools rose from 75% at 1 July 2006 to 88% at 1 July 2007, while the percentage that had green flags rose from 10% to 15% over the same period. At July 2007, 91% of secondary schools, 89% of primary schools and 74% of special schools were registered. As at January 2007 there were also 217 local authority nursery schools registered as ecoschools, over half of which have Green Flags or other awards.
