Age Profile of the Population
Over the period 1981 - 2031 the percentage of population aged 0-15 years is projected to fall from 22.9% in 1981 to 16.0% in 2031, while the percentage of those aged 65+ will rise from 14.3% to 25.3%. The percentage of the population aged 16-64 is projected to rise from 62.8% in 1981 to 65.8% by 2008, before falling to 58.7% by 2031.
