Police Strength

After rising steadily from 2000 to 2005, the total number of whole-time equivalent (WTE) police officers in Scotland has remained broadly stable over the last three years. As at 31 December 2007 there were 16,267 whole-time equivalent (WTE) police officers in Scotland, an increase of 37 (+0.2%) on the previous year's figure.
