Crime and Justice Statistics

PoliceThis section gives information on how to access statistics relating to Crime and Justice. Within the Justice Analytical Services Division, statistical teams work within four policy-focused, multi-disciplinary analytical teams which include social researchers, economists and performance analysts. The teams provide statistical information and support relating to police and community safety, court affairs and offenders, prisons and matters relating to civil and international law.

Volume of Crime Recorded by the Police

Overall, from 2006/07 to 2007/08 the number of recorded crimes decreased by eight per cent (-8%) - nearly 34,000 less crimes. Recorded crime is now at its lowest level for over 25 years.
