Introduction

MoneyFunding for sport in Scotland is available for those sports that are recognised by sportscotland and the UK Sports Councils.

Information on recognised governing bodies of sport in Scotland and the activities recognised as sports by the UK sports councils are available on sportscotland's governing bodies of sport websection ( www.sportscotland.org.uk).

Government funding for sport is channelled through sportscotland and distributed by them in line with Sport 21 and Executive policies. Information on applying for funds, including Government, Lottery and monies from various other sources is available through sportscotland's funding websection ( www.sportscotland.org.uk).

The Government also provides funding to local authorities through the Quality of Life and Community Regeneration funds, which can be used to develop sport, leisure and other activities. It is for individual local authorities to determine how they allocate these funds, and more information on these are available on the Quality of Life and Community Regeneration pages.
