'Reaching Higher - building on the success of Sport 21' is Scotland's national strategy for sport.
The Minister for Tourism, Culture & Sport commissioned a review of Sport 21 which began in January 2006. This was lead by the Scottish Executive and a focussed Steering Group which included representatives of the main partners in sport. Following the completion of this review, the revised strategy was launched on 8 March 2007.
The vision for sport in Scotland remains the same, to make Scotland:
· A country where sport is more widely available to all;
· A country where sporting talent is recognised and nurtured; and
· A country achieving and sustaining world class performances in sport.
The main shift in emphasis between Sport 21 and the revised strategy is to reflect a new clear focus on delivery, with defined roles and responsibilities for the key partners in Scottish sport - sportscotland, local authorities and sports governing bodies.
