The Scottish Cabinet has made a commitment to introduce new legislation for social work services.
Legislation is likely to:
- Shift the focus from the language of welfare to wellbeing
- Recognise the partnership between individuals and the state
- Reflect the principles of personalised services while recognising the compulsory nature of some practice
- Embed the new national priorities and performance improvement arrangements for social work services
- Clarify the role of the Chief Social Work Officer
