The National Violence Against Women Training Strategy funding Stream 2008-2011
The National Violence Against Women Training Strategy was first launched in March 2004 through the publication of the strategic document. The method of implementing the strategy was through the formation of fifteen training consortia, established throughout Scotland between October 2004 and March 2005. Each consortia corresponded to a geographic health board boundary, and the membership was to be drawn from local authorities, and representatives of public and voluntary sector organisations.
Each training consortia was awarded grant funding which was to be utilised solely for the purpose of implementing the strategy. This is to be achieved by working in partnership with public agencies and supporting them to integrate training and education around gender-based violence into the day-to-day training activity. Ultimately, it was anticipated that public agencies would incorporate violence against women training as core business with grant funding deployed by consortia to help achieve this.
Phase 2 of the national training strategy will begin on the 1st April 2009.
