Government Responsibilities

This section aims to provide a brief guide to the different roles and responsibilities of the Scottish Government and the UK Government in regard to disability issues.

Scottish Government - The Scottish Government has responsibility for the majority of public services including local councils, education, housing, social work and the National Health Service.

UK Government - For disabled people in Scotland the UK Government is responsible for equality legislation including the Disability Discrimination Act, the Disability Rights Commission, employment and income and benefits.
