Voluntary Sector Grants

Under the Concordat with COSLA, grants and other funding support for third sector organisations at local level is increasingly the responsibility of local authorities and other public bodies.

However, the Scottish Government also supports the work of the third sector. This is largely through support for the national infrastructure of the sector: umbrella and representative bodies, as well as advice and support networks which support the development and delivery of third sector organisations.

The transfer of responsibility and funding to local level, for example through the Fairer Scotland Fund, means that direct grants from the Scottish Government are now less common.

However, direct grants from Government will still be made in various areas as Ministers react to need and innovation.

This section contains information on grants available and a standard grant application form that grant applicants should use to apply for funding directly from the Scottish Government.

You can also find information here on organisations that have received funding from the Scottish Government in previous years. This information is collated after the year ends, in order to be as accurate as possible, but this does mean that information is not available for the current year.
