Action Plan on Health and Safety

construction workersThe Scottish Executive has always considered that although workplace health and safety legislation is reserved to Westminster, the Scottish Government has an important role in promoting good health and safety practice in Scotland.

An Action Plan has been developed to address some of the underlying issues which result in fatalities, serious injuries and ill health to workers and the public and to promote high standards of health and safety across the public, private and voluntary sectors in Scotland.

Published on March 28, 2007, the Action Plan was developed in close consultation with the Partnership on Health and Safety in Scotland (PHASS) and its members - STUC, CBI, FSB, HSE Scotland, HSC, the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives, POOSH Scotland (professional organisations in occupational safety and health) and local authorities.

The Executive has made £1.2 million available in 2007-08 to help implement the plan.
