Management Information
The National and Local Boards require to draw on accurate and up-to-date management information. Work is underway to develop a scorecard of management information to provide the board with the information they need to monitor performance. The system will be enhanced over time to ensure that we gather the right information and present it to Boards in the right way.
Warrants
Work was undertaken in 2006 to examine the procedures for handling warrants and a new cross-agency protocol was agreed by the main criminal justice agencies.
Police Time at Court
We need to tackle the time and money spent on unnecessary police attendance at court, and to improve arrangements to cite police witnesses. Five areas already have police "standby" arrangements in place and these are being examined in order to share good practice.
System Improvement
In light of legislative proposals the summary justice system is likely to look very different following the introduction of the Criminal Proceedings (Scotland) Bill. The Board has developed an overarching model of how the summary justice system will work in light of reforms to the summary justice system, summary legal aid and other changes. System Model paper.
