The Report of the National Review of Resource Allocation for the NHS in Scotland
(also known as the "Arbuthnott Review")
The National Review of Resource Allocation for the NHS in Scotland is an independent review established by the Government in December 1997 under the chairmanship of Professor Sir John Arbuthnott, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Strathclyde University. Its role has been to review the methods used to allocate funds for the NHS in Scotland between 15 Health Boards. Following consultation on the earlier reports published in July 1999, the Minister for Health and Community Care, Ms Susan Deacon, asked Sir John Arbuthnott to reconvene his Steering Group to consider the comments received during consultation and to provide her with revised advice.
The further work that has been carried out by Sir John Arbuthnott and the Steering Group is described in two reports.
Fair Shares for All: Final Report - provides a detailed account of the further work that has been carried out in response to the issues raised during consultation.
Fair Shares for All: A Guide to the Final Report - provides a short summary of the Final Report.
