INTRODUCTION
The French have a wonderful phrase: "Vive la difference". It celebrates the differences between people and infers
the richness that such differences bring to our experience of life. It's not a million miles from our own phrase: "Variety is the spice of life". Spice is something rich. Something valuable. Something to be cherished.
Recognising, valuing and celebrating diversity in the workforce as well as in society at large is a priority for the Scottish Executive Health Department and NHSScotland (NHSS). And the Diversity Task Force (DTF) exists to provide strategic leadership to NHSScotland Managers and to act as an enabler to facilitate the necessary culture change at every level within NHSScotland.
The Diversity Task Force (DTF) is committed to ensuring that NHS Scotland employers are able to access the widest pool of talent possible to deliver the services that our patients and carers demand. To access the widest possible pool, NHS employers need to be able to offer employment opportunities that are accessible, fair and meet the needs of employees and employers.
This will be achieved by:-
- Ensuring all recruitment functions, policies, procedures are inclusive and non-discriminatory.
- Providing equality of employment opportunity at all stages including learning, development and promotion opportunities.
- Ensuring that every member is aware of NHS Scotland's value and demonstrates positive behaviour to colleagues, partner agencies, carers and patients.
This site will be regularly updated to provide information to support effective employment practice which enables NHS Scotland to attract, recruit and retain a diverse and talented workforce.
