Quality of Life provided funding direct to local authorities allowing councils to prioritise expenditure on projects which addressed local concerns on the environment and community well-being. The fund was allocated £280m over the five years 2003-2008.
The last 2-year allocation (2006-08) was for projects falling under 2 themes - improving the local environment and improving community well-being.
A wide range of projects were supported ranging from skateboard parks in Fife to youth projects in Angus; anti-graffiti and vandalism measures in Dundee to neighbourhood safety in North Lanarkshire.
