About Scottish Public Sector Procurement

Procurement - the "cradle to grave" process of acquisition - is an integral part of resource and budget management. Its disciplines are at the heart of the way that we run much of our day to day business whether it is:

  • setting up framework agreements for buying a range of IT services
  • commissioning a consultancy
  • establishing multi- million pound contracts.

The Scottish Procurement Directorate (SPD) is responsible for developing and advising on procurement policy for the public sector in Scotland. We also ensure that procurement processes within the Scottish Government are effective and efficient by ensuring that staff are aware of their responsibilities and authority, and have the necessary information and tools.
