
Qinghai is located on the northeastern part of the Tibetan Plateau. The Yellow River originates in the middle of Qinghai, while the Yangtze and Lankang have their sources in the southern part of the province. Qinghai is home to 44 ethnic minorities accounting for 44% of the province's total population.
