The Scottish Government runs the annual Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning (SAQP) in association with the Royal Town Planning Institute In Scotland. The awards aim to stimulate the creativity of those engaged in planning and raise the profile of good practice.
A key strand of the government's design policy is education and training. The Designing Places Student Award is for urban design work that has been carried out as part of the curriculum on planning courses. The award is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate planning students and nominations can include a project, dissertation, essay or report.
Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney, will announce and present the SAQP 2008 at the event ceremony on March 12, 2009 at The Hub, Castelhill, Edinburgh, EH1 2NE.
