  3. In general, "food" means any substances which are intended to be consumed by humans. Food does not include feed, live animals and plants prior to harvesting.
  4. Food is considered to be unsafe if it is either injurious to health or unfit for human consumption.
  5. Feed is deemed to be unsafe if it is considered either to have an adverse affect on human health or animal health or if it makes the food derived from food producing animals unsafe for human consumption.
  6. In general, "feed" means any substances which are fed to animals.
  7. Food law means "the laws, regulations, and administrative provisions governing food in general, and food safety in particular, whether at Community [European] or national level; it covers any stage of production, processing and distribution of food, and also of feed produced for, or fed to, food producing animals".
