Why has this Inquiry been set up?
To find out why abuse took place at Kerelaw and come up with suggestions to improve residential accommodation for young people and prevent abuse happening in the future.
Who set up the Inquiry?
The Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council, which was responsible for Kerelaw from 1996 until the school finally closed in 2006.
Who is running the Inquiry?
It is an independent inquiry, led by Eddie Frizzell, who is a retired senior civil servant and former Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service. He has a team of 4 working with him.
What do I do if I want to give information to the Inquiry?

What will happen to any information I give?
It will be used to help the team write its report.
When will the report be published?
We expect to complete the report around the end of the year.
Will my name appear in the report?
No. All information will be anonymised in the report and individuals' evidence, in whatever form, will be kept confidential and securely and not passed on to anyone else. The Inquiry is formally registered for Date Protection purposes and is bound by all statutory requirements in this regard.
If new allegations of abuse are made will they be passed on?
Anyone making new allegations will be advised to raise them with the appropriate authorities.
If I want to have a meeting with the Inquiry team, will I have to go to Edinburgh?
No. There are facilities for having meetings in Glasgow, and scope for other locations to be considered .
May I bring someone with me if I come to talk to the Team?
Yes.
If I need financial help with travel to a meeting will I get it?
We will reimburse travel costs or arrange for tickets to be provided in advance if this is required.
